Early Career

William (Bill) Jefferson Clinton graduated as top student from Hot Springs High School before attending Georgetown University and the University of Oxford. He also attended Yale Law School where he graduated with a degree in law. Clinton was in office as Attorney General of Arkansas between 1977 and 1979 and as Governor of Arkansas between 1983 and 1992.

In January 1993 Bill Clinton became the 42nd President of the United States. He was in office as president until January 2001 and continues to be rated highly by the general American public. Both Bill and his wife Hillary Clinton have accumulated wealth from speaking fees and book writing.

Philanthropy and Sponsorship

In keeping with his presidential aspirations of addressing global issues like climate change, health issues and international economic development, Bill Clinton started The Clinton Foundation in 2005. Notable projects by the foundation include:

  • The Clinton Health Initiative (CHI) – an initiative with the aim of improving health systems in developing countries and expanding access to treatment of HIV/AIDS, malaria and TB.
  • The Clinton Global Initiative (TCG) – an organisation with the goal of getting global leaders to work together to solve the most pressing global issues.
  • The Clinton Climate Initiative (CCI) – a program started due to Bill’s long-term commitment to conserving the environment and fighting climate change.
  • The Clinton Development Initiative (CDI) – collaboration between Bill and Scottish philanthropist Tom Hunter. CDI aims to promote sustainable economic growth in Africa while also trying to eradicate the root cause of poverty in Africa.

In addition to the projects above Bill Clinton also funds disaster relief projects, several health initiatives and sustainable growth initiatives.
